School yeargroups

A school has 240 pupils. Three-eighths of the pupils are in Year 6, and the rest are split equally between Year 7 and Year 8. How many pupils are in Year 8?

Comments

  1. Step 1: Find the number of pupils in Year 6.

    Three-eighths of 240:
    240 ÷ 8 = 30
    30 × 3 = 90

    Year 6 = 90 pupils

Step 2: Find the remaining pupils (Year 7 and Year 8 combined).

    240 − 90 = 150

Step 3: Split the remaining pupils equally between Year 7 and Year 8.

    150 ÷ 2 = 75

    Year 8 = 75 pupils
