Insects in a colony

The number of insects in a colony doubles each week. If there were 100 insects in the colony at the start of the first week: 1) How many would there be after 6 weeks?

Tournament Table

In a scrabble tournament, players score 5 points for a win, 3 points for a draw and get 0 points if they lose. Part way through the tournament four of the players taking part, players, A, B, C and D, have played different numbers of games and have all lost at least one game. Note that there are other players playing in the tournament whose results are not listed here. Fill out the table out.

Factorial

 The notation 4! is used as an abbreviation for the product 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 so that 4! = 24. Similarly, 9! = 9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 362880. Work out the value of: 1)3! 2)7!

How many cubes?

 How many 3cm cubes can be made by cutting up a cuboid measuring 12 cm by 24 cm by 18 cm?

Theme Park Prices

The entry prices at a theme park are:  Adults £20.00 & Children £15.00.  A group visited the theme park and were charged £105.00. How many adults & children were in the party. There was at least one adult.

Hours of sleep
