    Let Mia’s age be x

    Then Sam’s age is x + 4

    In 3 years:
    Mia will be x + 3
    Sam will be x + 7

    We are told:
    x + 7 = 2(x + 3)

    Solve:
    x + 7 = 2x + 6
    7 = x + 6
    x = 1

    So Mia is 1 year old.

    Sam is 1 + 4 = 5 years old.

    Final Answer:
    Mia is 1 year old
    Sam is 5 years old
