    Let the number be x.

    Tripled and add 7:
    3x + 7

    Doubled and add 13:
    2x + 13

    Now set the two expressions equal:

    3x + 7 = 2x + 13

    Step 1: Subtract 2x from both sides:

    x + 7 = 13

    Step 2: Subtract 7 from both sides:

    x = 6

    Final Answer:
    The number is 6.
