I am thinking of a number. When I divide this number by 5, the result is 9 more than 3. What is the number?

    Let's denote the number you are thinking of as N.

    According to the problem:

    N/5 = 9 + 3

    Simplify the right side:

    N/5 = 12

    To find N, multiply both sides by 5:

    N = 12 × 5

    N = 60

    So, the number you are thinking of is 60.
