Sarah went to the store to buy some school supplies. She bought 4 notebooks, 3 pens, and 2 packs of coloured pencils. Each notebook costs £2.50, each pen costs £1.20, and each pack of coloured pencils costs £3.40. How much did Sarah spend in total?

    To find the total cost, multiply the cost of each item by the quantity Sarah bought and then sum these amounts:

    Cost of notebooks = 4 × £2.50 = £10.00
    Cost of pens = 3 × £1.20 = £3.60
    Cost of colored pencils = 2 × £3.40 = £6.80

    Total cost = £10.00 + £3.60 + £6.80 = £20.40

    So, Sarah spent £20.40 in total.
