Sophie, Ben, and Lily share a box of sweets. Sophie eats 3/8 of the sweets, Ben eats 1/4 of the sweets, and Lily eats the rest. What fraction of the sweets does Lily eat?

    Sophie eats 3/8 and Ben eats 1/4. To find out how much Lily eats, we need to first express Ben's share in eighths:

    1/4 = 2/8

    Now, add Sophie's and Ben's portions together:

    3/8 + 2/8 = 5/8

    Lily eats the rest, so we subtract this from the whole:

    1 - 5/8 = 3/8

    Lily eats 3/8 of the sweets.
