The Garden Grid

A rectangular garden measures 30 meters in length and 20 meters in width. A path of 1 meter width runs along the inside perimeter of the garden. What is the area of the garden excluding the path?

Comments

  1. The garden is 30 meters long and 20 meters wide.

The path is 1 meter wide around the inside perimeter.

The length and width inside the path are each reduced by 2 meters (1 meter on each side).

    So, the length inside the path is 30 - 2 = 28 meters, and the width is 20 - 2 = 18 meters.

The area of the garden excluding the path is 28 meters x 18 meters = 504 square meters.
