Theme Park Rides

The price of a one-day ticket to a theme park is £37.60. Joe buys a ticket and experiences 8 rides during the day. Work out the average cost per ride.

Rishi pays an additional £31 for a special pass which gives front of line access to all rides throughout the day. He experiences 14 rides. Does the special pass provide value for money? Give reasons for your answer.

  1. To calculate the average ticket price, we would have to do the price of a ticket / the number of rides.
To do this, we need to do 37.6 / 8 which is 4.7

To solve this problem, we need to find the average price for the 14 rides - the average price for the eight rides. To calculate the average cost of the 14 rides, we first need to add 37.6 + 31, which is 68.6. Then, we need to divide this by 14, which gives us an answer of 4.9. Now, if we subtract this from our previous answer of 4.7, we get a positive number, meaning that it is worth the money to buy one
