Pens and Pencils

Pens cost 7p each and pencils cost 5p each. I buy some pens and pencils which cost 55p exactly. How many of each did I buy?

    For this question we need to buy a certain amount of pens so that the total pen cost will end in 5 or 0. The only way to do this is with 5 pens because anything else will exceed the limit of 55p. The from here we just count 4 pencils from 35 to get to 55 which gives us our answer.
