1) The average number of runs scored by a cricket team in an innings is 17. What was the total number of runs scored by all eleven players?

2) In this innings the opening pair of batsmen scored an average of 39.5 runs. What was the average score of the remaining nine members of the team?

    1) For this you would have to do 17 times 11 because the average of all 11 players is 17 so the total will be the same. 17 times 11 is 187 and this is your answer

    2) If it was 39.5, then the total that the openers scored would be 39.5 times 2 which is 79. Then we do 187-79 which is 108. Now we do 108 / 9 which is 12. This gives us 12 as an answer
