The twelve inch ruler

A twelve inch ruler is approximately 30 cm long. Use this fact to estimate each of the following: 

The number of centimetres in 4 inches. 

The number of inches in 5 centimetres. 

The number of centimetres in 9 feet 10 inches.

    1) The number of centimetres in 4 inches is 30/3 = 10

    2) The number of inches in 5 centimetres is 12/6 = 2

    3) The number of centimetres in 9 feet and 10 inches is 295
