Alison, Bhavini and Catherine share a bag of sweets. Alison gets 5 more sweets than Bhavini and Catherine gets twice as many sweets as Alison. Catherine gets 22 sweets. How many sweets are there in the bag?

    We can use algebra to solve this problem.

    A = B + 5
    C = 2A
    C = 22
    22 = 2A
    A = 11
    11 = B + 5
    B = 6

    A = 11
    B = 6
    C = 22
