In a barn there are only horses and people. If there are 12 heads and 34 legs how many horses and how many people are there?

    From this we can create 2 equations:

    2x + 4y = 34
    x + y = 12

    Now using systems of equations, we can find out that y = 5 meaning there are 5 horses and 7 people
