The symbol "ϕ"

The symbol ϕ represents a mathematical rule. 

The rule for ϕ is “add the two numbers and then multiply their sum by the second number”. 

For example, 2 ϕ 3 = (2 + 3) × 3 = 5 × 3 = 15 

Work out:

1) 2 ϕ 6

2) 1/2 ϕ 3

    1)2 ϕ 6 would just be:
    (2 + 6) x 6 = 8 x 6 = 48.

    2) 1/2 ϕ 3 would be:
    (1/2 + 3) x 3 = 3.5 x 3 = 10.5
