First, we need to create our equations:

b + 25 = 3a
now we can substitute our first equation into our second one:
a + 15 + 25 = 3a
a + 40 = 3a
2a = 40
a = 20
Now we answered the first one we need to answer the second one. We can just substitute a into the first equation giving you 20 + 15 which is 35.
Now we know our solutions:
Alan - 20
Bob - 35
