Convert these numbers from binary into normal numbers

1) 10011 = ?
2) 1100111 = ?
3) 111011 = ?
4) 10001 = ?
5) 111 = ?
6) 1101 = ?
7) 101010 =?
8) 110 = ?

Perform the operation then convert your answer to binary. (Hint: not all operations are the same as normal numbers!) Also you will need to tell me the binary answer and the normal number answer once you converted it.

10001 + 1001 = ?
101 x 11 = ?
1101 - 100 = ?
10011 + 111 = ?

  1. I will explain the first one of each topic then you will be able to do the rest.

So to convert 10011 you need to start from the right - hand side of the number and do 1 * 2 to the power of 0. You have the 'one multiplied by' because if you go from the right of the number then the first number will be 1. If the first number was 0 then you would do 0 multiplied by 2 to the power of whatever number from the right that digit is, starting from 0. After you have finished doing that with all you digits you add the result of all the digits up and that is your answer.

In the next topic, I asked you to add the binary numbers together and give me the normal number result and the binary number result. This is how you would do that:
    In binary, 1 + 1 = 10 and 1 + 1 + 1 = 11 because in binary, the only digits that can be used are 1 and 0.
so for 10001 + 1001 this would be the way you do it:
    1
    10001
    +1001
    _______
    11010
    _______

So now that we have got the binary answer, we can convert that answer in to a normal number using the topic we learned about at the start. After you have done this, it will give you 26.

    Now for subtraction:
    We know that 1 + 1 = 10 so in the same way 10 - 1 = 1.
Now we just do subtraction just like we did addition but using 10 - 1 = 1 instead.

    Now for multiplication:
In binary multiplication you multiply normally but when you add the numbers afterwards, you add like binary not like normal numbers. Then for all these you convert them to normal numbers ( which you learn how to do at the top) and give the answer as a converted number and a non - converted number.
