Sneaky Shopping Spree

Emma went shopping with £50. She spent half of her money on a dress. Then, she bought a pair of shoes for £12. After that, she spent one-third of her remaining money on a handbag.

How much money does she have left?

Comments

  1. Emma starts with £50.

She spends half on a dress:
    ½ × 50 = 25
    Money left: 50 - 25 = £25

    She buys shoes for £12:
    25 - 12 = £13

She spends one-third of the remaining money on a handbag:
    ⅓ × 13 = 4.33
    Money left: 13 - 4.33 = £8.67

    So, Emma has £8.67 left.
