How many marbles?

Sophie has a total of 72 marbles. She gives half of them to her friend Emma. Then, Sophie buys 18 more marbles. After that, she decides to split all her marbles equally into 9 jars.

How many marbles does Sophie have in each jar?

Comments

  1. If Sophie gives half of them to Emma, then she would have half, or 36, left. Then, she buys 18 more marbles, leaving her with 36 + 18 = 54 marbles. If she splits them into 9 jars, then in each jar there would be 54/9 = 6 marbles per jar
